Victor Emmanuel III was a Savoy monarch who ruled over the Kingdom of Italy for over four decades, from 1900 to 1946. In addition, he was the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1936 to 1943 and the King of the Albanians from 1939 to 1943. He ascended the Italian throne following the assassination of his father, Umberto I, in July 1900.
